Upgrade to 9.2 fails on Linux using Non-US English language Print


An upgrade to 9.2 fails on an Linux manager that has the locale set to Japan. It show errors relating to the database upgrade. The sigsetup.log file shows the following errors: 
  • database installation script returned: 1
  • ERROR: Signiant Manager Database Server 'postmaster' failed to start properly.
  • SQL script returned: 1
  • Errors occurred while importing/upgrading solutions - rc=1
  • A problem occurred opening a connection to the database: org.postgresql.util.PSQLException

The postgres.install log also show the following error:
  • mv: target `6?-2011_13:41:39' is not a directory


To correct the issue do the following:
  • Restore the manager back to the previously installed version
  • Edit the /etc/sysconfig/i18n file and change LANG="ja_JP.UTF-8" to LANG="en_US.UTF-8"
  • Reboot the machine
  • Run the upgrade
